PREVIEWTHE HEADLINER Last night’s red brand pay-per-view (PPV) changed the landscape and should provide most of tonight’s talking points. But the one thing WWE has been pushing the most, even during Fastlane, is an update on how Seth Rollins’ rehab from a MCL tear is progressing. Rumors tell us things look good but-not-guaranteed-great for the Architect to keep the promise he made last week to show up in Orlando to confront his former mentor, Triple H. Neither man was in Milwaukee on Sunday. Hunter’s name came up in connection to Samoa Joe, but hopes that either Joe or Trips would interfere on Kevin Owens behalf never made it past the “alluded to in scenes with General Manager Mick Foley” stage. For those reasons, it’s probably best to assume tonight’s Rollins segments will keep things vague while focusing on continuing to establish him as a more traditional babyface than their first stab at turning him late last Summer did. But... who knows? Maybe they’ll surprise us with something more concrete. It should be an eventful night... THE TITLE SCENE ► It’s the first night of Goldberg’s run as Universal champion, and something tells me they won’t have the usual obligatory rematch. That’s both because there’s not much to do over (and no indication Bill can do much more than the spear/jackhammer combo we’ve seen from him since Survivor Series) and because both the new titleholder and his Mania challenger, Brock Lesnar, are advertised for tonight. With less than a month to go, WWE will probably just start building toward that. ► And, the United States champ returned at Fastlane, too, and that’s the next feud for the longest reigning Universal champ in history, anyway. Chris Jericho didn’t even need to lift a finger to cost his former best friend his belt. Now KO will be looking for revenge. ► To the surprise of most, the Women’s title didn’t change hands in Milwaukee, so Bayley is still champ, and Charlotte Flair’s PPV streak is no more. Once again, Sasha Banks provided a seemingly unrequested assist to the Hugster. The pair were buddy-buddy on Raw Talk, but expect Charlotte, Stephanie McMahon or the rumored fourth participant in Mania 4Way, Nia Jax (who the Boss managed to pin earlier on Sunday night) to try driving a wedge between these two yet again. ► It doesn’t matter who’s holding the tag team belts, there’s bound to be controversy in that division. This time, it’s because Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows retained their title despite Enzo Amore’s foot being on the ropes when Anderson pinned him. Expect rematches early and often. ► He fought like the extraordinary gentleman he is, but Jack Gallagher was unable to end the King’s reign. Neville is still cruiserweight champion, and the question is, how long until Austin Aries is doing more than just talking about his package? While we ponder that, Fallout videos revealed that pre-show winner Rich Swann will cash in his rematch clause for a title fight - tonight on Raw! OTHER STUFF TO KEEP AN EYE ON: ► Charlotte wasn’t the only person who say a streak end yesterday, as Braun Strowman now has a pinfall loss on his main roster resume. The Monster Among Men took everything the Big Dog had and gave as good as he got. After the build he’s received, he’s not gonna disappear, but it’s not clear what he does next. ► Reigns, on the other hand, is supposedly getting one of the biggest matches in wrestling... a Mania showdown with the Dead Man. Are the rumors true? Will that feud start tonight? ► Unlike Ms. Banks, Sami Zayn could not pull out a win against Joe, despite surviving his onslaught for much of their match. A Coquina Clutch left him sleeping, and his immediate future with as many question marks as his old rival Braun. ► New Day have wacky new shirts repping their new frozen treats and a bike to distribute them from; when will the Mania hosts unveil the cream itself? ► Rusev and Jinder Mahal are not teaming anymore, but Cesaro and Sheamus still are. ► Also, Big Show is mad.
