Smackdown 4/22 SPOILERS

There's an amazing new look to the Cole Mine. Also, a stacked line-up: Corre vs. Big Show & Kane for the Tag Titles, Wade Barrett vs. Kofi Kingston for the IC Title.

Rey vs. Cody is the opening match. Awesome, must-see opening promo from Rhodes. Very clever and funny.

(1) Rey Mysterio beat Cody Rhodes clean. Fun match. They brawled into the crowd afterward, and then around ringside.

Next was couple's therapy with Lay-Cool. McCool attacked Layla.

(2) Jack Swagger beat Trent Barreta via submission with the anklelock.

Awesome Kong hype video aired next before the Tag Title match.

(3) Big Show & Kane beat The Corre (Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel) to capture the WWE Tag Titles. Matt checks in: fairly decent five-minute match. Ezekiel Jackson tried to get involved near the end, but Kane took care of him while Show got the pin on Slater after a chokeslam.

(4) Drew McIntyre beat Chris Masters. Nice little match. Bizzaro world with Drew over as a face in the U.K.

(5) Intercontinental champion Wade Barrett beat Kofi Kingston with assistance from the ropes to retain the IC Title.

Alberto Del Rio's retirement party for Edge was next to close the show. Comedy gold from Del Rio. Edge & Christian interrupted the party. Edge got involved, and the show ended with Christian holding the World Title belt atop a ladder (to promote Christian vs. Del Rio in a ladder match at Extreme Rules).

Ring changed while Cole mine was rolled in. Booker T got a great reaction. Edge vignette opens the show. Replay of battle royal. Smackdown opening plays. Recently knighted Michael Cole comes out huge heat to God Save the Queen. Cole is dressed in regal attire and goes into Cole mine.

Cody Rhodes comes out to minor heat with shopping trolley heads to ring with men in suits. Wrestlemania rematch in the offing. Cody rambles on about Mysterio wearing a mask. A "You suck" chant rings out. Rhodes holds up brown paper bag mask. Assistants hand them out ringside. Apparently gone to "great expense" providing them! Cody wants to be drafted off the show and saving a paper bag mask for Mysterio. Mysterio to huge pop comes out.

1. Rey Mysterio defeated Cody Rhodes. Match immediately goes to the outside with Mysterio on the offensive. Rhodes turns the tide. Plenty of heat. Mysterio powerbomb reversal leads to near fall. Rhodes on the offensive with abdominal stretch round ring post. Mysterio fights back with enziguri but misses 619 setup. Rhodes with a near fall and continues on offense. Rhodes goes for superplex but Mysterio fights back. Mysterio jumps from the turnbuckle to be met with Rhodes dropkick and a near fall. Cody goes for power bomb but reversed for roll up and Mysterio win.

Rhodes reacts badly to heat! Mysterio into ringside boardings by Rhodes and into crowd. Mysterio into steps by Rhodes. Continue into crowd. Mysterio throws Rhodes back to ringside. Crossroads to Mysterio on the ringside mats. Rhodes places paper bag mask on Mysterio. Rhodes in the ring victorious to heat.

Justin Gabriel and Wade Barrett backstage discuss the battle royal from last week. Heath Slater comes in as does Ezekiel Jackson. Big pop for Barrett as the argument continues over who would sell whose mother down the river.

LayCool fought in another couples counseling session. No one cared.

Trent Baretta comes out to pretty much no reaction. Michael Cole leaves the Cole mine and climbs into the ring with regal attire still on. Huge heat. "May I have...." etc etc. Raw vignette plays re: kissing feet. Cole loving it and getting MEGA heat. Replay of fake queen knighthood rubbish. Cole introduces Jack Swagger to substantial heat.

2. Jack Swagger defeated Trent Baretta. Slingshot from Baretta into powerbomb by Swagger into ankle lock. Tap out by Barretta. Swagger wins.

Huge pop for Kane and Big Show as they walk to the ring backstage. Awesome Kong vignette plays. Big show and Kane come out to HUGE pop. Corre to huge heat!

Big Show and Kane defeated Just Gabriel and Heath Slater to win the WWE Tag Team Championships. Slater and Gabriel with Jackson are not popular. Kane and Slater start. Kane dominates early on. Near fall and then Big Show with stink face. Kane tossing Slater around. Gabriel in. Kane still kicking ass and a near fall. Jackson tips Kane off top rope. Slater gets to work. Gabriel in and Big Show gets crowd going. Kane nails Slater and tags Show. Show choke slams Slater and new champs!

Backstage segment with the Corre. Slater and Gabriel having a pop at Jackson. Slater slaps Gabriel!! Drew McIntyre comes out to biggest pop so far surprisingly! Chris Masters comes out to little reaction. McIntyre chants ringing out!

3. Drew McIntyre defeated Chris Masters. McIntyre hits the finisher and picks up the win to HUGE pop!

Big pop for Kofi Kingston! Mixed reaction for Barrett accompanied by Jackson.

4. Wade Barrett defeated Kofi Kingston in an Intercontinental Championship match. Some low key "Let's go Barrett" chants ring out in a see saw opening. Big Zeke hits Barrett on the outside by accident. Barrett sends him away from ringside. Couple of close calls by Kofi! Couple of missed finisher attempts and Barrett wins with a roll up and grabbing of ropes!

Ring being set up for Del Rio stint. Lots of phallic shaped balloon type things and Brodus Clay in the ring! Del Rio out to substantial heat. Apparently no one throws a party like him! He talked about him being the cause of Edge's retirement. He had a presents for Edge: a grandfather clock, (chants of "what" start to ring out!) adult diapers is the next gift. He talks about friends. Lita's music plays and a particularly fat lady appears! Brodus helps her into the ring. Del Rio unveils a zimmerframe (a walker) for Edge. Last gift is Ricardo Rodriguez in electric wheelchair to some very loud fireworks.

Del Rio talks about being new champ at Extreme Rules. Edge music hits to biggest pop of night! Edge rules! Edge trash talks and Brodus sent after him. Christian appears and attacks Brodus from behind with ladder. Christian hits Del Rio with the ladder on the ramp and then takes the ladder into the ring and grabs the belt! Christian music hits to end taping.

Christian on mic loving London asking for "Thank you Edge" chant. Edge music plays to huge pop and Edge comes out on disability scooter! "Hall of Fame" chant rings out. Christian gets soppy tells Edge he will take a piece of him into ring every night and without Edge there is no Christian. "I love you man," big hug. Edge says "The bastard got me to cry again!" Edge says Christian needs to take belt home at Extreme Rules. Says if he is advertised then he will turn up!

"Thank you Edge," chant rings out again. Edge says how much he loves crowd and Christian. Talks about five second pose. "One more time" chant rings out! Explains it to the younger fans, "If it's one more pose you want it's one more pose you get!" Trigger lots of five second poses! Teddy long appears. Personally thanks Edge, calls out roster to thank him. All come to ring. Mysterio passes phone to Edge who films crowd. Lots of hugs all round!

Michael Cole came out with a black eye.

Randy Orton cut a promo about having unfinished business with C.M. Punk. Drew McIntyre interrupted and talked about being drafted to Raw. Orton hit the RKO on McIntyre. Alex Riley came out and took an RKO from Orton before he could even say a word.

Alberto Del Rio, Brodus Clay, and Ricardo Rodriguez cornered Orton. Christian came out to help Orton. Teddy Long booked a main event of Orton and Christian vs. Del Rio and Clay.

Sheamus attacked Kofi Kingston before a match. Sheamus left him lying with a kick. It appears Sheamus vs. Kingston will be added to the Extreme Rules pay-per-view lineup.

1. Sin Cara defeated Jack Swagger. Cole delivered his usual anti-Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross promo before the match. Swagger did push-ups on Sin Cara at one point. The crowd was into Sin Cara's moves and the kids especially liked him. Sin Cara got the win with a roll up.

2. Big Show and Kane defeated Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater to retain the WWE Tag Titles. Show and Kane won with simultaneous chokeslams.

3. Rey Mysterio beat Mark Henry by DQ. Cody Rhodes interfered for the DQ. Rey and Rhodes fought up the ramp and back to the ring. Henry roughed up Mysterio and then Cody put a paper bag over Mysterio's head.

4. Michelle McCool fought Layla to a double countout. Layla and Michelle McCool had a pull apart. McCool eventually challenged Layla to a no DQ, no countout match at Extreme Rules with the stipulation that the loser leaves Smackdown. Layla agreed to the match.

Christian cut a promo in which he talked about how winning the World Hvt. Championship is his destiny.

5. Randy Orton and Christian defeated Alberto Del Rio and Brodus Clay. A serviceable television main event to close the taping.

John Cena filmed scenes for the movie "Fred 2" after the Smackdown taping concluded.

*Announced for the show is WWE Tag Team champs Kane & Big Show vs. The Corre and Mark Henry vs. Rey Mysterio.

*The World title is hanging above the ring.

*Smackdown opens with Randy Orton coming out to a huge pop, introducing himself to the Smackdown fans. Drew McIntyre, wearing a Raw shirt, comes out and interrupts. McIntyre goes for his DDT but Orton slips out and drills him with the RKO. Alex Riley tries to interrupt but before he can say a word, he eats an RKO as well. The crowd loves all of this. Alberto Del Rio, Brodius Clay and Ricardo Rodriguez come out. Alberto says he will bring the World title to Raw. Clay squares off with Orton but Christian hits the ring to even the sides. Teddy Long announces a tag match main event for tonight.

*Kofi Kingston comes out but Sheamus attacks him during the pyro pose on the entrance. Kofi was wearing a Raw shirt. Sheamus destroys him and poses. Kingston is carried out by officials. Great way to leave the brand, eh?

*There is an in ring promo by a heavily bruised Michael Cole, who brings out Jack Swagger. Cole does a pig call to mock Jim Ross.

Swagger vs. Sin Cara. Cara nails the entrance! The match is being wirked with old school Kane style mood lighting with blue and orange lighting. Cara dominated and won with a victory roll after Cole landed Swagger a weapon that Swagger never got a chance to use. Cara was over.

Backstage segment with Rey Mysterio being wished well on Raw by The Great Khali and Ranjin Singh. After Rey leaves, a large man of Indian descent appears. Khali and Singh treat him like a big deal and they all speak in Hindi together.

There is an in-ring promo by Rey where he talks about how it is hard to leave Smackdown but he promises he would beat Cody Rhodes at Extreme Rules.

*Rey Mysterio defeated Mark Henry by DQ. Not a bad match. Rey nailed the 619. Cody Rhodes attacked Rey in the crowd. Henry walked out laughing. Rhodes put a paper bag over Rey's face.

*WWE Tag Team champions Big Show & Kane defeated The Corre with double chokeslams.

*Michelle McCool vs. Layla El goes to a double countout. There is a big "Let them fight" chant after they are held apart by officials. Layla issues a challenge for a No DQ, No Countout match. McCool accepts and adds a Loser Leaves Smackdown stipulation. Layla accepts.

*Matt Striker interviews Christian who discusses his title match at Extreme Rules and Edge's retirement. Christian says it's HIS destiny to earn the right to be called World champion.

*Randy Orton & Christian defeated Alberto Del Rio & Brodius Clay when Orton pinned Brodius with the RKO.

Before the show, Booker T came out to the biggest ovation thus far. Josh Matthews came out to the Smackdown theme. Michael Cole came out to the loudest boos I've ever heard live. He had his Slammy Awards. They recapped Christian's title win and Smackdown opened cold with no pyro.

Christian said, "Mark you do realize this championship is gold and not chocolate right." Hilarious! Great Khali and Runjin Singh interrupted and Khali said he wants a title shot. He was greeted with loud "WHAT" chants.

Randy Orton's music then played. It was hard to tell who got a louder reaction between him and Christian. Orton threw his name in the hat as a contender. He said he's not a circus freak like Khali or Henry, but he is Randy Orton.

Teddy Long's music then hit. He said he was leaving it up the WWE Universe. He polled the crowd and Orton vs Christian got a massive cheer. Long then announced Orton vs Christian for the World Title tonight!

I went for a quick soda but while I was gone there was a backstage segment with Khali, Ranjin, and Jinder Mahal. I didn't see it so I'm not sure what happened.

1. Sheamus beat Daniel Bryan. Excellent hard hitting and fast paced match. It went almost 10 minutes. Sheamus won after two Brough Kicks.

Cody Rhodes then came out for a promo. He said even in defeat he exposed Rey Mysterio as a fraud. He complained about Rey spitting mist into his eyes. Rhodes said we were all ugly and he had his two guys pass out paper bags. He said our ugliness offends him. Surprisingly, nobody interrupted him.

They showed a recap video of the tag title match from Extreme Rules.

2. Ezekiel Jackson beat Big Show. Jackson had the other three members of The Corre with him. They surrounded the ring, but Kane's pyro hit and he made his way to ringside.

During the match, The Corre jumped Kane at ringside. Big Show left the ring and beat them all down. When he reentered, Jackson hit him with a huge clothesline and got the win after about five minutes. After the match, Ezekiel left The Corre when they were trying to celebrate with him. They all looked angry.

They re-capped Layla vs Michelle McCool from Extreme Rules.

3. Layla beat Alicia fox in about one minute. Layla is still using the Laycool music. I don't know how Alicia Fox doesn't dislocate her hip when she does her stripper walk.

Anyway, Kharma came out afterwards. Layla bailed because she isn't an idiot like Kelly Kelly. Alicia Fox tried to attack Kharma. Big mistake. She ate an implant buster. Layla watched on in horror. The crowd chanted "one more time." Alicia Fox had to be helped to the back. It looked like her shoulder was hurt.

Chavo Guerrero came out for commentary.

4. Sin Cara defeated Tyson Kidd. Lot's of Sin Cara chants from the crowd. The ring was lit up with blue and gold lights for the match. Sin Cara won in three minutes after hitting that backflip exploder suplex from the top rope. After the match, Chavo got in the ring and had a stare down with Sin Cara and they shook hands. I had flashbacks to some of the great cruiserweight matchups from WCW Nitro during the match.

Backstage The Corre tried talking to Ezekial Jackson backstage but he wasn't listening so they beat him down.

In another backstage area. Todd Grisham asked Teddy Long if he thought it was fair for Christian to already defend his title just 5 days removed from a ladder match. Long said he was just giving the WWE Universe what they want and brought up that Orton just competed in a Last Man Standing Match.

Randy Orton made his way to the ring for the main event.

5. Randy Orton defeated Christian to win the World Hvt. Championship. Incredible 15 minute match. Lots of nearfalls and the crowd was electric for both men. Orton won when he hit Christian with an RKO in mid-air. I'm disappointed as a Christian fan but this match was awesome live.

Christian sold disbelief in the ring. The crowd gave him a standing ovation and chanted his name. I'm not sure when the taping ended but Christian walked to the back with a skocked look on his face.

After Smackdown, Randy Orton came out with a mic. He said, "When you all leave here tonight, I want you all to remember that I'm Randy Orton and I'm the new World Heavyweight Champion."

There was no dark match. Overall it was an awesome night. The crowd was hot all night long with USA chants.

Comunque sono molto curiosa di vedere Sin Cara Vs Tyson Kidd e Sheamus Vs Daniel Bryan.

** Spoiler ** Smackdown 13/05 - Tapings results

Quel che segue è un breve recap di quanto avvenuto ai tapings di Smackdown; chi non vuole avere anticipazioni può attendere il report dello show; online poco dopo la fine della puntata.

Christian apre lo show e si congratula con Randy Orton per la vittoria del World Title. Christian chiede il suo rematch per Over the Limit. Sheamus e Mark Henry entrano in scena, chiedendo la title shot di Christian. Christian viene attaccato dai due finchè non interviene Orton a salvarlo. 2. Ted DiBiase beat Trent Baretta.

Ezekiel Jackson came out and then The Corre followed. Teddy Long interrupted and made a six-man tag match.

3. Kane, Big Show, and Ezekiel Jackson beat The Corre in a six-man tag.

4. Brie Bella beat Natalya. Bella won with the X Factor. Kharma didn't show up, which upset the fans.

Il World Champion Randy Orton apre lo show, ma viene interrotto da Christian, che parla di Over The Limit e sfida Orton ad un altro match. Sheamus e Mark Henry li interrompono. Teddy Long entra in scena e sancisce Christian vs. Henry vs. Sheamus come main event della serata.

Sin Cara batte Chavo Guerrero nel rematch di Over the Limit. Match migliore del precedente.

Cody Rhodes e i suoi impiegati portano fuori più buste. Cody insulta la folla finchè non viene interrotto da Daniel Bryan.

Daniel Bryan batte Cody Rhodes via LeBell Lock. Dopo il match, Cody Rhodes lo attacca e lo finisce con la Cross Rhodes, per poi mettergli una busta in facca.

Booker T entra nel ring e invita Michael Cole ad entrarci. Booker parla di Cole battuto da Jerry Lawler a Over The Limit e si complimenta con lui per essersi scusato a Raw. Booker vuole che Cole si scusi con i fan di Smackdown. Booker schernisce Cole e gli offre delle mentine come già fatto Lawler a Raw.

Kane batte The Great Khali. Jinder Mahal entra in scena e spinge Ranjin Singh. Khali fa per aiutare Ranjin, ma lo chiude nella Vise grip. Mahal e Khali se ne vanno insieme.

Ezekiel Jackson batte Heath Slater per squalifica, quando il resto del Corre interviene nel match.

Invece il fatto che abbia perso a causa di Orton, e che la shot di Sheamus verrà incassata nel prossimo smackdown e che quindi a Capital Punishment avremo probabilmente un nuovo Christian vs Orton, mi fa pensare che non sia finiota quì.

Daniel Bryan batte Cody Rhodes. Cody attacca Bryan a fine match. Sin Cara interviene a salvarlo.

Randy Orton batte Sheamus e mantiene il World Heavyweight Title. Sheamus colpisce Orton con il Brogue kick. Christian conta fino a due, ma finisce per fingere di essersi fatto male al polso. Orton esegue l'RKO e ottiene il pin vincente. Christian colpisce Orton con la cintura.

* Ezekiel Jackson beats WWE IC Champion Wade Barrett by count out so he doesn't win the belt. Jackson fights Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel after the match while Barrett walked off.

* Segment with Sheamus and Christian. Sheamus is playing nice. Christian isn't falling for it and tells Sheamus he needs to focus on Randy Orton.

* Daniel Bryan beat Ted DiBiase with the LaBell Lock. Cody Rhodes came out with paper bags and teamed with DiBiase to beat Bryan down after the match. Sin Cara came out and cleared the ring for the save. Cara's entrance was botched as they hit the special effects and his music too early.

* Randy Orton beat Sheamus with the World Title on the line and Christian as special referee. Sheamus knocked Christian down early. At one point Sheamus had Orton pinned but Christian went to selling his arm from Sheamus hitting him. Orton hits a nice RKO on Sheamus for the win. After the match, Christian lays out Orton with the World Title belt to end the show.

Comunque, stando a quanto ho letto, sembra che Sheamus,nonostante la sconfitta (della quale nessuno ha mani dubitato), sia uscito dal match in modo abbastanza dignitoso.
