Russia says EU sanctions to increase energy prices for Europe
(Reuters) - Russia's Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that sanctions imposed by the European Union over the crisis in Ukraine will "inevitably" lead to higher energy prices in Europe.
"By going on a sanctions spree, Brussels, by its own will, is creating barriers for further cooperation with Russia in such a key sphere as energy.
This is a thoughtless and irresponsible step. It will inevitably lead to an increase in prices on the European market," it said in a statement. (Reporting by Vladimir Soldatkin, editing by Thomas Grove)

Comment by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the introduction of additional anti-Russian sanctions by the European Union
Having once again gone on Washington’s leash with regard to the issue of additional anti-Russian sanctions, the European Union punished itself as a result of its own ill-considered actions, having actually put our international cooperation in the area of security under threat.
Their additional sanctions list is direct evidence that the EU countries have taken a course to the full curtailing of their interaction with Russia on the issues of international and regional security, including the fight against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, terrorism, organised crime and other new challenges and threats. We are convinced that international terrorists will be enthusiastic about such decisions. Brussels has easily done something, which they had not managed to do for the last few decades – force a wedge in the world community. And it is Brussels, which will assume all the responsibility for this step, which was made despite the drastic aggravation of the international situation, including in Afghanistan, in the Near and Middle East, North Africa and in other spots.
At the same time, the European Union has become hooked on Washington’s and Kiev’s tales about the events in Ukraine, having lost an alternative and objective source of information.
Do European Union capitals understand what such irresponsible steps, be that in political or economic areas, can lead to?
